Who is Jesus?

Jesus was born to a virgin

Jesus was born between 4 BC and 0 AD.

His mother was Mary of Nazareth, a virgin, who an angel visited, Gabriel, and told that she would conceive a baby by the Holy Spirit in her womb.

  • This was prophesied 750 years earlier in the book of Isaiah: 'Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel. ' Isaiah 7:14

Jesus was born in Bethlehem

  • Bethlehem was the city of David, an ancient Israelite king, through whom God promised the savior of the world would come through his descendants.
  • Mary and Jesus' stepfather, Joseph, were both related to David, Matthew 1 and Luke 3.
  • Jesus was prophesied to be born in Bethlehem by a different prophet 730 years before him: '“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting.”' Micah 5:2

At the age of 30, Jesus began an earthly ministry that is documented in the gospel books of the Bible, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

During that time, he performed numerous miracles, including multiplying food (John 6), healing the sick (John 5), and raising the dead (John 11).

Even his opponents did not deny that these events occurred; they lied and claimed that Jesus was of the devil, and he revealed their foolishness, asking why the devil would cast out demons (Mark 3).

Many people today have a great deal to say about Jesus. Islam will declare him a prophet, Buddhism will declare him a good teacher, and Atheists will say he was a great moral teacher. Yet they all misunderstand Jesus.

Jesus was God in the flesh, come down to pay the penalty for the sins that we had incurred in life.

Jesus declares his Divinity to his Jewish audiences by claiming equality with God the Father and by using "I AM" statements, as God revealed his name to Moses in the book of Exodus.

Who is God?

He Died, Rose from the Dead and Ascended to Heaven

Christ's earthly ministry culminated in his death by crucifixion, carried out by Roman executioners and orchestrated by the Jewish ruling elite, yet the one who truly ordained it was God himself.

God created a perfect universe without corruption. He created mankind, and the first humans were Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 1-3). In the Garden of Eden, God gave Adam and Eve a choice to enjoy a perfect relationship with him or to allow corruption to enter the world by eating of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. God placed the tree in the garden because He gave humans free will, allowing people the voluntary choice to love Him or reject Him, as forced love is not love at all. Ultimately, Adam and Eve, under the influence of the devil, chose to rebel against God and eat of the forbidden tree (Genesis 3), and his perfect creation was subject to corruption.

God could have wiped the slate clean and destroyed all of humanity for their rebellion that started with Adam and Eve and continued with each of their ancestors, but God loves us and desires to be united with us. So on the day that he removed Adam and Eve from the garden, he gave a prophecy, 'And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.' Genesis 3:15. God says in the future that a human will make a great sacrifice and defeat the sin of this world and crush the devil. Ultimately, anyone born of Adam falls into sin since they are descended from the corruption, so who could overcome the devil? God himself comes down, descended from Adam, endures life as a man, Jesus, endures temptation and hardship, and sacrifices his life to take on the justice that the human race deserves by being crucified on the cross. God is a holy God and a just judge, and when there is a crime, there must be a punishment, yet God is merciful, and he takes on our punishment. He dies for our sins and then rises from the grave three days later, showing that he overcame death and that those who follow him are free from the kingdom of darkness and are saved from the death of their sins and have life in him!

'And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.'

Ephesians 2:1-10

After his resurrection, he ascends to Heaven, where he is today, interceding on behalf of those who repented of their sins and have faith in him as their savior.

Before Jesus ascended, He told His disciples to go into all the world and proclaim the gospel that frees the world from the kingdom of darkness.

That commandment led countless people to a saving faith in Christ and freedom from Hell and adoption into the family of God, where he takes you in like a son or daughter.

That commandment led to the creation of this website that you are reading today. If you recognize that Jesus' death and resurrection are true and that your sin separates you from God, you must repent of your sins and have faith.
